Emergency Medical Help
If you’re in urgent need of medical support, there are services that can help right away to keep you safe.
- Accident & Emergency : If you need immediate medical help, especially if you think you might act on suicidal thoughts, or you've harmed yourself and need urgent attention, your best option is A&E.
- Emergency GP Appointments : If you need urgent support for your mental health but there’s no immediate danger to your safety or the safety of others, contact your GP for an emergency appointment.
NHS Crisis Services
The NHS provides several crisis services designed to give you intensive support when you need it most.
- Crisis Teams : If you are already in contact with your local mental health services, you may be supported by a Crisis Team. They provide intensive, short-term support during mental health emergencies.
- Crisis Houses : If you need more support than can be offered at home, but hospital admission isn’t appropriate, a Crisis House can provide intensive residential support.
- Hospital Admission : Sometimes hospital admission is necessary — for example if not going to hospital would mean you or others are at risk, or if you need an assessment that can’t be done at home.
