Frequently Asked Questions

What information do I need to provide when I contact you?

You only need to share what feels relevant to your question or situation. There is no need for formal wording, and we encourage you to keep personal information such as your full address, workplace or other identifying details to a minimum unless they are genuinely needed. You can read more about how we handle information on our Legal page.

How private are conversations with HRE4U?

We treat conversations with care and respect your privacy. We only use or record information where it is needed to support you, manage a referral, respond to your message or meet our safeguarding responsibilities. There are limited situations where we may need to share information because of a serious safety or safeguarding concern. You can read more in our safeguarding information.

Can I contact you anonymously?

You do not need to give us more personal information than is necessary. Some contact methods, such as WhatsApp or email, may naturally show details linked to your account, such as your phone number or email address. If you would prefer to keep identifying information to a minimum, just tell us as little as you need to.

What can I contact HRE4U about?

You can contact us about mental health and wellbeing, finding local support, housing, money worries, benefits, food support, employment, SEND, family law, cancer support, loneliness, LGBTQ+ support, or simply because you are unsure where to start. If we are not the right service, we will do our best to point you towards someone who can help.

Do you offer LGBTQ+ support?

Yes. We have a dedicated WhatsApp contact for LGBTQ+ peer support. You can use the LGBTQ+ Support option on this page to message us directly. It is not an emergency service and is not monitored 24/7.

Can I speak to someone in person?

Yes. You can visit one of our HRE4U Crisis Café sessions without an appointment. Our Contact Us and café pages show the next available session, including the venue, date and time. You can also visit our café page for more information.

What if I don't know what to say?

That is completely fine. You do not need to explain everything perfectly. You can simply start with what is happening, what you are worried about, or even say that you are not sure what kind of help you need. We can help you work out the next step.

How quickly will you reply?

We reply as soon as we reasonably can, but our messages are not monitored 24/7 and response times can vary. If your situation is urgent, please do not wait for a reply from HRE4U.

What should I do if I need urgent help?

HRE4U is not an emergency service and our messages are not monitored 24/7. If you need urgent mental health support or you are worried about immediate safety, please visit our Urgent Help page for the quickest appropriate options.

How can I follow up if I haven't received a response?

You are welcome to send us another message or email us for an update at hello@hre4u.co.uk.

Are the organisations listed on HRE4U part of HRE4U?

Not usually. HRE4U works with and signposts to a range of independent organisations. Where another organisation provides a service, referral or appointment, they remain responsible for their own service unless we clearly say otherwise.
